We will not waver

A statement from La June Montgomery Tabron, president and CEO

The 2024 election is among the most consequential in our nation’s history. Every voice matters—and we encourage every American citizen to make their voices heard at the ballot box and beyond.

At the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, we are driven by Mr. Kellogg’s charge “to help children everywhere to face the future with confidence, health and with strong-rooted security in their trust of this country and its institutions.” As such, we remain unwaveringly committed to our mission of partnering with communities to build a more equitable world where every child and family can thrive.

Especially at this moment, when so much of our political dialogue seems intent on tearing our national community apart and denying our common humanity, we believe our mission finds its deepest expression when we promote and foster racial healing. We must meet this moment with leadership and action that unites us.

We have seen the promise of racial healing break down barriers and help people connect across our differences. Indeed, to rebuild “trust [in] this country and its institutions,” we must summon the courage to share and hear difficult truths. We must recognize our shared values and our shared fate, even if we haven’t always shared a common American experience.  And whoever the American people choose to represent them, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation will continue the essential work of ensuring children and families in every community can lead lives of dignity, opportunity, equity and justice.
