As the South goes, so does the nation, writer W. E. B. Du Bois once said. Here in Mississippi, our aspirations for children to grow, learn and thrive have significance beyond our state line. As such, we are realizing our dream of all children reaching their full potential through quality early learning, access to health care and building a workforce for tomorrow’s economy.
Quality early learning puts kids on the path to lifelong success. All students, no matter their family’s income, race or zip code, should have access to that path. This is why our education efforts in Mississippi focus on creating a seamless learning path from early childhood to third grade, consistent with children’s developmental milestones and educational goals.
We invest in health equity, so all Mississippians can thrive and shape solutions to the issues that affect their health. We support advocacy for comprehensive health coverage, access to quality care and improvements to public health infrastructure. We invest in training a community-based health workforce and wraparound services to support families at home, school, workplace and in community.
We want all working Mississippians to be economically secure so their families can thrive. Our investments help low-income populations get the training and certifications they need to access jobs that pay a living wage and provide benefits like health care and paid time off.
