Started two years ago by a pair of twenty-something activists-turned social entrepreneurs, People’s Grocery is pioneering a model to provide healthy foods to low-income communities at prices they can afford. It’s not that the people of West Oakland don’t want to eat well, insist the folks at People’s Grocery, it’s that nutritious foods are simply not available in their community. W.K. Kellogg Foundation provides funding to People’s Grocery.
