Rural Children and Poverty Analyzed in New USDA Report

The Casey Foundation is working to build rural family economic success
(RuFES) because too many rural children live in families that are
disconnected from economic opportunities, supportive networks, and
effective services. These rural families may live in “persistently poor”
rural areas, or they may have been impacted by recent changes in global
and regional economies, or they may have become financially decimated by
personal misfortune or circumstances. The USDA’s Economic Research
Service has produced a new study, “Rural Children at a Glance,” which
provides compelling facts about rural child poverty.
