Every individual has worth. They also bear an incredible amount of responsibility, not only to themselves, but to the families and communities they’re a part of.” – Khan Nedd, WKKF Board Chair

Why Leadership Matters Today

Connect, grow and lead transformational change

We stand at a unique time in our history, when great disruption and opportunity coexist. More and more, people are becoming deeply aware of racial and economic injustices, fueling a growing desire for authentic change throughout society. We must meet this moment with leadership and action that unites us. Together we can address structural inequities and support healing from the effects of racism. What’s needed are compassionate, courageous and inspirational leaders in and from our communities.

Changemakers in the WKKF Community Leadership Network (CLN) demonstrate compassion, courage and firsthand knowledge of their community’s challenges and gifts. Designed in partnership with the Center for Creative Leadership, this innovative fellowship offers local leaders a chance to connect, grow and lead transformational change toward a more equitable society. This 18-month program brings together dozens of inspiring leaders from across the United States and sovereign Tribes, with cohorts in WKKF’s priority places of Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico and New Orleans.

What Our Fellows Experience

Our fellows benefit from hands-on leadership development, personalized coaching and peer networking. Practical experiences prepare fellows with the critical knowledge and skills to navigate today’s challenges, advance racial equity and racial healing and engage communities in collective leadership.

Through the WKKF Community Leadership Network, fellows become fully equipped to meet the opportunity of the moment and foster equitable opportunities for children, families and communities to thrive.

Connection With a Multigenerational, Global Network

When fellows complete their Community Leadership Network program, they join the WKKF Global Fellows Network, a multi-generational community of more than 1,200 leaders from 40 countries – all WKKF fellowship alumni. This global network expands the connection, collaboration and action formed during the fellowship. Plus, it connects today’s leaders with seasoned changemakers from around the globe.
