Director of Communications 

The Director of Communications at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation is responsible for designing and implementing communication strategies to elevate the foundation’s DNA (racial equity and racial healing, community engagement, leadership), our investment portfolio (inclusive of the Kellogg Foundation Investment Office and mission related investments), executive thought leadership and knowledge strategy and internal communications. Leading a team of communications colleagues on the core communications squad to contribute to and execute a cohesive brand voice that clearly communicates the foundation’s priorities, the Director of Communications collaborates internally with peer leaders across the foundation, the communications function and within the Office of the President to measurably enhance awareness and engagement with the foundation through internal and external communications platforms and strategic campaigns and establishes new partnerships that support children, families and communities.

Education / Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to assigned area plus a minimum of eight years related work experience in field relevant to assigned responsibilities, with strong networks and contacts and a minimum of five years of leadership experience required. Advanced degree preferred.
• Foundation or nonprofit experience preferred.
• Minimum five years’ related work experience creating and managing objective-focused communications content (for both internal/employee-focused and external audiences) for online, social and traditional media and related project management required. Preference for significant relevant work experience (8-12+ years) with strong networks and contacts.
• Fluency in English required; fluency in Spanish, French, Haitian Creole or Indigenous (Mexico) or Native American (US) languages strongly preferred. 
• Experience leading, engaging and developing a diverse team that operates with a client-service mindset by continuously engaging internal and external stakeholders and providing real-time feedback to strengthen both outcomes and relationships in service of the mission.

Additional Info

Job Posting Range: $150,000 to $206,000. Actual starting salary of candidate will be commensurate with years, breadth, and depth of relevant experience, education, certifications, credentials, special skills, accomplishments and other factors relevant to the position.
