Accounting and Payroll Senior Specialist, Based in Battle Creek, Mich.

The accounting and payroll senior specialist prepares and processes the organization’s payroll for U.S.-based and international employees, with appropriate application of accounting procedures, federal and state laws and regulations, and foundation polices/procedures. The senior specialist will assist with organizing foundation financial documentation, and provide detailed technical and general accounting support to both the finance department and the organization.

Education/Experience

  • Associate’s degree in accounting or related field plus 3-5 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in accounting required; bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field plus 2-3 years’ experience preferred.
  • Experience with computerized multi-state payroll system and knowledge of current payroll system and industry standards preferred.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred.
  • Foundation or nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with persons from diverse cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Experience working in a high performing and agile organization with a team-oriented culture.
