Making Systems Work for Everyone

We also invest statewide to fix broken systems in early childhood education, employment equity and health equity so they work for all children and families across the state.

Our focus on early care and education supports:

  • Improving access to early care and Pre-K-12 education.
  • Creating higher-quality formal and informal early care and education.
  • Building comprehensive state systems for improving early care and education.

To promote employment equity, we support:

  • Increasing access to quality jobs and better-paying jobs.
  • Strengthening career pathways and removing barriers to employment so families can get and keep jobs.
  • Creating more equitable access to wealth-building activities for people of color.
  • Supporting small businesses, entrepreneurship and enterprise development.

Our focus on health equity aims to eliminate race-based health disparities in:

  • Improving maternal and infant health.
  • Increasing access to affordable and healthy food.
  • Creating more equitable access to the social determinants of health – or the non-medical factors that influence health outcomes – like lack of transportation, where people live and the environment where they live and work.
