Renewal, Inc. staff recently visited a recreation center in Monroe, La., to recruit youth ages 14 to 18 for the Youth/Adult Entrepreneurship Program. Renewal, Inc. works in collaboration with the Ouachita Economic Community, the University of Louisiana at Monroe Small Business Development Center and other community sponsors to create this 32-hour course, taught by ULM professors and community instructors. Renewal, Inc.’s most recent efforts were at recreation centers serving some of the poorest families in the city.
In July, participants in Renewal’s Youth Entrepreneurship Training Camps toured Fran ois Accounting and Tax Service.
Community Trust Bank recently donated $1,000 to Renewal, Inc. to help further its efforts in economic development. Community Trust Bank also will partner with Renewal, Inc. to start a Money Smart Program in Monroe. This is a 10-module program that helps adults outside the financial mainstream enhance their money skills and create positive banking relationships.
