Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture’s Executive Director, Brian Snyder, discusses benefits of sustainable farming
 
As executive director of a nonprofit organization that promotes sustainable agriculture, it is often my job to find a sense of balance in helping farmers face the dilemmas of operating in the midst of a national farm crisis. As such, my organization promotes a tremendous variety of innovative strategies, some that do not always mesh together all that well. Nearly all our members would agree that less tillage of the soil is a good thing, just as we would also concur that reducing synthetic chemical use carries a very high value. The “holy grail” in sustainable agriculture would be an organic, no-till cropping system. Sound impossible? Not if we put our best minds to it.
