La June Montgomery Tabron receives prestigious Oxford Fellowship

WKKF’s President & CEO joins a distinguished fellowship of world-renowned changemakers

W.K. Kellogg Foundation President and CEO, La June Montgomery Tabron, has been elected by the University of Oxford as recipient of the ‘Bynum Tudor’ Fellowship at Kellogg College in Oxford, England. She joins a distinguished echelon of fellows including Archbishop Desmond Tutu; His Royal Highness, Charles, The Prince of Wales; Confederation of British Industry President, Lord Karan Bilimoria; businessman Sir David Brown and the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women, Dr. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka.

Founded in 1990, Kellogg College supports students studying part-time for graduate degrees, something that the University had not previously permitted. Consistent with the Kellogg Foundation’s belief in ‘helping people to help themselves,’ WKKF supported the establishment of the College to give opportunity to diverse professionals seeking higher education.

"The W.K. Kellogg Foundation is proud to have supported the creation and growth of Kellogg College,” said Tabron upon receiving the fellowship. “Our founder believed that people held the power to make lasting change on behalf of children. Education has an important role in that process – empowering individuals to serve their communities and strengthen society. I look forward to engaging with the other Fellows, and the students, staff and alumni of the College.”

The Bynum Tudor Fellowship is the highest honor the College can bestow. Established in 2004, the fellowship is an outgrowth of the College’s mission to engage with influential thinkers and experienced practitioners in business, policy making and culture. The fellowship is endowed by the late North Carolina community leader Bynum E. Tudor Jr. and JoAnna Tudor.

Tabron will be formally inducted into the fellowship in Fall 2020. She will deliver the Bynum Tudor Lecture in May 2021.
