More than 500 students and young adults from across New Orleans came together for a day of inspiration, education and empowerment during I Am New Orleans’ powerful debut of FutureFest NOLA.
Key to creating an authentic experience for youth was having it designed by youth. I Am New Orleans’ youth advisory board helped plan FutureFest NOLA, which was hosted at Dillard University on Aug. 20, 2024. The day-long event included live performances by the New Orleans Saints Cheer Krewe and mascot Sir Saint, Grammy nominated artists Dee-1 and Tarriona “Tank” Ball, DJ Raj Smoove, Brass-A-Holics and Sunni Patterson, with renowned radio personality Wild Wayne serving as emcee.
FutureFest NOLA also offered action-centered workshops and panel discussions with all of the performers and some of New Orleans’ most influential voices, as well as a resource hall for youth to connect to services and supports.
