Supporting more than 50 organizations in central and southwestern Haiti focused on health, education and family economic security, we emphasize community engagement, leadership and systemic change. Believing in L’Union Fait La Force – There Is Strength in Unity – we facilitate cross-sector collaboration and engage with peer funders to accompany Haitian-led organizations building a better future.
Building on our decades of experience successfully working in Haiti, we started the Pockets of Hope campaign.
We focus on education and leadership because building a better future must include expanding access to safe, high-quality education for children, while also investing in leadership development among young men and women.
We support provision of maternal and child healthcare in southern and central Haiti, within specific facilities, as well as strengthening constantly challenged regional systems. St. Boniface Hospital (run by Health Equity International) and the University Hospital of Mirebalais (run by Partners in Health/Zanmi Lasante) are health care beacons, drawing patients from across their respective regions to receive quality care. They also work to strengthen care beyond the hospital walls through primary care strategies such as community mobile clinics, referral facilitation and local workforce development, including community health workers, midwives and nurses.
“We believe every Haitian should be fed, and Haitians can feed Haiti.” This is the motto of the Haiti Food Systems Alliance, which is working to bring about fundamental and lasting sustainable economic development and food sovereignty to rural farming families and communities.
